At what intervals or how often does one have to put grease in the zerk on the forks? How much grease goes in? I didn't see this covered in my service manual, but I could be wrong. Thanks.
In the front of the Service Manual is a chart for maintenance intervals. It lists the services required and the mileage. The first section covers maintenance and shows how each procedure is done.
The zerk on the steering head is lubricated every 10 K and you pump in grease until grease comes out the top and bottom of the steering neck.
Glad to see you do your own service. You get to know your ride better and you know each item on the checklist has been done.
Look down the page and click on the model you have, the chart wil load and you can print it out if you want.
BTW this link came from our very own HD Forum Do It Yourself section. There is a lot of great info and help there. I have enjoyed many an hour browsing through there. Many helpful hints from our members. Don't get so busy reading there you forget to post out here.
