ORIGINAL: huffhuff

cut about 4 inches out of the pipe going from the rear cylinder to the pipe coming from the front cylinder. plug both openings with chevrolet freeze plugs. voila!!! $1.50 and true duals. keep the heat shield in place to cover the removed pipe area. no need to spend big bucks to get true duals.

Thats not a bad idea, but perhaps a bit too 'cheap' for my blood.

no one can see what you did as the shield covers the missing pipe piece and it works great.

I am running the Torres set up and enjoy the true dual at a reasonable cost. You have to trim the 1st aft cylinder heat shield. Make sure ya cut it at an angle to get better coverage if you buy the TCC set up.

I run the Vance and Hines true duals on my bagger. Excellent quality and sounds great.

I did the Fullsac deal and it defintely works though the re-use of the stock heat sheilds is not a clean detail and the rear header pipe is left exposed ( Silver heat coating) and it looks kinda unfinished. The Fulsac kit is about $170 and for about $280 you can get the Vance and Hines True Dual Headers with fullheat shields and put whatever muffler you want on it. So for my money spend the extra $100 and get the V&H headers with heat shields and you will be much happier. I went 2-1 Bassani after tiring of the Fullsac look. Having a $20k bike with cheap head pipes is not a good thing

That was my thinking. You buy the Fullsac package but then you still have the gap in the heatshield on the right side down by the floorboard. That has irritated me since the day I picked up my RK. So, you buy the longer heat shield from the MOCO ($70-$80) or you buy the filler piece from Kuryakyn which looks like a filler piece and you're getting very close to the cost of the Vance & Hines Dresser Duals which come with one piece heat shields on both sides.

For once, I had some patience and found a new set of Dresser Duals for $230-shipped over on the classified section of this board from one of our board members (IndyRider) and installed them last week. Fit and finish is excellent. However, true duals with my existing SEII's, are louder than I like. I'm debating about what to try. I'll be patient again and hope to find the right answer and the right deal on this board. If not, I may put my stockers back on for my trip to PA in a few weeks.
