Closed my tour pak yesterday and noticed the rear latch was broken. Have one ordered from the dealer, hope to get it before Thunder Beach next week. Be a bummer on a 800 mile weekend with a bad latch. I guess the vibration finally got it. Do these break often?
I broke one also. I've heard of a few of us who have. Check ebay. There's a guy selling them way cheaper than thru a dealer.
Also, do a search on this site for more info.
In the future, learn to close them more gently and try not to forget to latch them before riding off. Don't laugh, it's easy to do if you're riding two up!
I think mine broke for two reasons, I had two flage on the rear of my tour pack and I may have put too much stress on the latch over time due to over-packing!
I broke both of mine within a few days of each other last year. When I put the new ones on I made sure to push them up as far as I could before tightening the screws so they close just a little easier.
Had one break at about 30k and the other one was noticeably looser than the new one so I replaced it too. Very cheap item to replace so I'm going to treat them like a wear item.
one of mine broke last season, bike had about 20,000 miles on it then and never really over-packed the TP. Guess they don't last forever, of the 5 dealers in town only one had them in stock. Another said they just sold out and they sell quite a few.
