I believe the shocks are 1" shorter and install is quick. Undo the top and bottom bolts and remove the nut for the air line and reverse for the install.
I installed them on my Ultra with no problems, so it must be an easy install. The shock is 1" shorter, but I don't think the bike sits a full 1" shorter when installed. It's the same shock as on the Street Glide, which has 4.7" of ground clearance, compared to 5.1" with an Ultra. (Using 2010-model specifications.)
Note that you will have a firmer/harsher ride than stock, in part due to having to run higher air pressures so the shock doesn't bottom out so easily.
I installed the SG shocks on my 08 and there wasn't much to it. I think you should use a jack to unload the suspension and then lower the bike down to get the bolts in the shorter shocks. Don't spill the fluid!!
[quote=JBELCHER7876;6600501]I am looking at lowering my bike too. I cannot decide if I should go with the 1 inch lower shocks or do the adjustable air ride.[/quote
I just lowered my 2008 streetglide 2 inchs. I bought the lowering kit from bikersdelight off ebay. I installed it in about 45 minutes using my stock shocks, it gives you 3 options, 1 inch 2 inch or 3inch. Very nice product cost $50 shipped to my door. Me and the wife went riding and noticed a little stiffer ride not much, wife didn't notice anything, but the stability and ease off backing up was awesome. Wish I would have done this a while ago.
