I rewired mine to keep the spot lamps on with the high beam too. And I ride 24/7 with the high beam on. I can spot the deer, racoons, possums, dogs, and cats easier when it's darkout. And in the daylight hours I figure a higher aimed beam will be seen easier by cagers. Although I am considering the Kizan modulator mentioned earlier. I would assume it still allows the high beam to be turned on when need at night. Additionally, I've asked several people that I know if the high beam is bothersome when they are coming the other way in their cage at night. They all said no.

Are these the correct bulbs for the 2009 Ultra. I thought they were H1 ?

The plugs dont melt from running on high beam. They melt from being yanked off the bulb improperly. There is a lock that holds them on the bulb, you have to squeeze the side of the connector to release the lock. If you yank it off the terminals get opened up and create higher resistance, over heat and melt the plug.

Ive been running high beam and pass lamps 24/7 since 99, no melted plugs on my bikes, but I have changed lots of them on customer bikes.

Have never put on the hi beams on during the day and don't plan on it.

If you think you'll be seen better by people that don't pay attention anyways. That's OK with me.

I turn on every light on at the front that I can. Now then to answer your question, I work at a power utility and we have a 500' stack. The aircraft navigation lights are at there brightest during the day than at night.

The TN drivers manual says to use high beams during the daytime. I see bikes all the time that have very dim headlights that can barely be seen during the daytime. Brights for me during the day.

I have been working on my RG since day 1 to try to get the head lights to shine higher and brighter. The factory did not put the assy. in properly and to get them high as they are supposed to be,I had to adjust the bottom out so far that it was actually hitting the clear cover on the fairing. When I bought and installed the new CVO headlight bezel,I had to readjust the bottom down so I could install it.

Solution: I pulled the fairing, backed the top adjustment (Cannot be reached without pulling outer fairing)way back,so now I don't have to push the bottom out as far. I installed some BMW (H4 100/80W) Automobile bulbs, and even tho the lights are still not quite adjusted up as high as the book says they should be,I can see further and feel safer than I ever have.

Same here, High beam, and yellow driving lights. Even with all this, remember, those stupid cagers will still find an excuse to not see you.
