I bought a set of Xied's for 79.00 bucks and my bike runs great and get's an average of 41 mpg. anything wrong with that????
Xied's help a great deal in bringing down engine temps, but they aren't as good as having a fuel map that is designed for your particular bike. The tuning devices are so popular because they work so well.

You don't have to spend a fortune, though, if you don't mind used parts and are a little flexible. I did a stage I on my 07 cop bike last year for about 300 bucks. That was right after I bought it and money was tight, so I did what I could with what I had. Screamin Eagle air cleaner, SE performance II slip ons, and a fuel pak. Everything was like new second hand, some of the stuff hadn't been used at all. That did wonders for my bike, and made me a believer in the stroker motors.

Over the last year, I've slowly upgraded the bike, and this spring, I changed out the fuelpak for a PCV with autotune.

Some guys don't bother with the Harley tax, but there's so much performance in your motor waiting to be set free, so why not? Most of us change out parts from time to time, and you can frequently find what you're looking for right here in the classifieds.

Thanks for your response Boogaloodude, I'm in a different world now than when I was younger. I was really a hot rodder then. Now I just want my scoot to run good and not burn me up in the summer month's. I know the PC-V is top notch for accurate tuning. I'm just not convinced I want a piggy back system that bypass's my 02 sensor's. I went to Tuneyourharley.com and did a lot of reading. The dyno sheet's they showed made sense. I know EPA has the moco by the nads. they have to meet their specs. But it shouldn't take a fortune to richen the bike up a little to cool it down and make it run better. I've kept a check on my plugs since I installed the Xied's. They seem to be a little on the rich side, but ok!

Apparently no listened to the guy when he said he didn't want to increase noise when yall are suggesting slip ons and mufflers, unless there are slip ons or aftermarket mufflers that are as quiet as stock.

I think he got some good suggestions. He can contact Jamie at Fuelmoto and get the slip-on's with quiet baffles. almost as quiet as stock, but with good performance. You obviously didn't read the responses very well.

I read them as well you read the original post as he said he wants no increase in noise, not almost as quiet as stock. I can only go by what someone types not read into what he may be thinking or what I think is best for him.

Have you heard the new Screamin Eagle slip ons? Most guys don't like them because they are too quiet. I've heard some that are about as quiet as stock pipes, but with a slightly deeper tone. Yeah, there are slip ons as quiet as a stock exhaust.

No I have not heard the new SE slip ons, I myself have not heard anything that is as quiet as stock.

Go listen to the "street legal" slip ons sometime. Different tone, but definitely not loud.
