I had the NEW SE Slip Ons when I bought my bike ...They were DEFINITELY NOT louder than stock. COmpletely different tone, not any louder though...lasted about 2 months.
B/C I wanted some noise!
I read your post and I am wondering how you would know the difference if you only have had the New slip ons on your bike, it sounds to me that you never had the stock mufflers on it. Just asking to clarify.

Sorry...I had a completely OEM STOCK bike when I brought her home. Installed SE Slip Ons, Ventilator A/C...NOT Louder at ALL.....Then had Bub 7s for a while and finally settled on kerker slip ons, which are currently on there for almost a year.
Can you increase performance on a stock 103ci 2010 Limited for under $1000.00. I am talking performance not noise.
I personally think SE255 cams are a very good fit for the Limited with it's moderate compression ratio and is a cheap upgrade if you DIY. The downside is that they will make the exhaust note more aggressive and louder, and I don't know what the result would be using stock mufflers, which are very restrictive.
I second the suggestion to call Fuel Moto for advice. They will advise without BS or hard-sell tactics, even if your best option is something they don't sell. Their Power Package is an excellent Stage 1 option but sound volume will increase with the freer-flowing exhaust system in the kit.
If you are intent on keeping a near-stock sound level you might consider buying some CVO mufflers (Ebay?) and add an AC kit (e.g., Fuel Moto or SE), PCV, and optionally SE255 cams. I've never seen any feedback on this setup and I'm speculating based on the assumption that you want sound volume to stay close to stock.

I think this is as good an assessment as any with regard to the new Screamin Eagle Street Performance mufflers. I currently have them on my FLHTK and, while the exhaust note is different, it is not significantly louder than the stockers. I'll be switching them out to Jackpots later this week. It's not like I totally disliked the SE mufflers, they just werent loud enough for the cagers to hear when I twisted the throttle to warn them of my presence.
