5k on the engine, mobil 1 15/50 (26.00 for 5 qts from walmart)
10k on the primary formula + (will probably go with atf next time around though)
10k on the tranny royal purple 75/140
even though hd recommends 20k on the tranny, i find that its easier to remember primary/tranny oil change every other engine oil change....
5000 miles plus or minus on engine(Harley synthetic) 10000 miles trans and primary.(Formula plus) Thinking about doing primary more often. It gets pretty crappy looking.
Manual says 5000 on engine with Dino so you can extend it with syn if you want...i have gone aroud 7500 or 8000 twice with Mobil 1 and it was very clean...10000 primary and 20000 on tranny. i do inspect the fluids every 5000 to see that it is clean and so far no problem..Just had my primary openen up by the dealer so new fluids in there now...i looked at it when they opened it and the3 fluid was like new and the inside of the primary was exceptionally clean. Many many opinions here so go with what makes you feel warm n fuzzy inside.
For those of you that change all 3 holes every 5K or less, do you do then same thing with your cars or trucks? If so, why not change your engine, transmission and differential oil that often?
I change my oil in the spring because I do most of my riding during the warm half of the year and I like to start out with fresh oil. I also change it in the fall because I don't do very much riding during the cold half of the year and I don't want dirty oil sitting in the bike during that time.
