Default Help!! Engine Running Problem

Guys, I went out today to ride, needed gas, ran fine going to fill-up. About 2-3 miles after I filled up my bike (03 Ultra) started missing and got worse over the next 3-4 miles. Made it home barely (felt like the bike was running on one cylinder). Thought I got some bad gas or water in the gas, drained the tank, put in fresh fuel and it won't start at all. I have a built engine with a PCIII. When a PC goes bad do they stop all together or might this be the problem? How can I check this? I have put around 2K miles on the new engine with no problems at all, been running great. It appears to be an electrical deal but???? Thanks in advance for any comments. Gary

I'd unplug the PCIII long enough to see if that is the problem.

Agreed, take the PCIII out of the equation and see if it starts. After that I would look at the spark plugs and wires. Was the bike throwing a code?

See if you have any codes come up first, I recently had a crank sensor go bad & started to take things apart before I checked for codes. I coundn't find anything so then I checked for codes & got #41 crank sensor. Relaced the sensor & it started right up, then I had to replace the thing I'd taken off first. By the way I'd ridden it home about a week earlier & parked in the garage, went to start it a week later & nothing. It's easy to check for codes, I don't remember the sequence but it's in your service manual if you have one, that or you can do a search on here for the procedure, if you can't find it I can look it up & post it here.

Being it ran fine before you got gas I would think that it has something to do with getting gas. Was the tank real low when you got gas? Maybe a plugged filter? Worth a look. If unplugging the PCIII doesn't fix things.

Thanks, I do have a manual, If I can't figure out the codes, I'll get back on and check with you guys again, I wasn't sure about unplugging the PC, but to see if it will start won't hurt anything. Gary
