If I am guessin right roady is talking about steel self tapping screws into plastic???? not real sure - waiting for his reply - I do agree with the blue loctite on steel to steel
I was refering to the 4-13mm nuts that are in the inside of the fairing after you take the outer off. I believe that they hold the inner to the frame. There was no locktite on the nuts from the factory but there is now. I agree with you all on locktite make sure you get the big bottle of blue. Sorry I didnt reply sooner but finished doing some things around the house and then went to bed.
Thanks for the reply = amazed the shop did not see that before... I am in the process of doing the swap - the correct nuts for that area are steel locking - I will be sure to add some blue to them before I add the outer fairing...
I know this post is a year old but I have a question about removing the outer protective lens over my roadie's headlights. I have a 07 Roadie and the headlights have two bar & shield emblems in front of the headlight and behind the lens. Six months old and 2,600 miles and the glue has give out. So both my emblems are sliding around behind the lens. So here's the question, are the instructions here for removing the outer lens cover? You just carefully remove the cover from the front of the bike without removing anything else? It sounds easy if it is. Also has anyone else had this issue or am I just lucky?
Yup...the part above about easing the bottom tabs out...use a flat screwdriver with a rag over it, get the bottom two tabs out and then ease out the top ones. Nothing to it, simply snaps back in place.
Hmmm, I have had my fairing apart a few times now to install a garage door opener and I never thought to look at the mounting bolts on the frame extension. Ya got me concerned now.
I was out onenight and hit the high beams and that blew a fuse. Harley fused the high and low beam together. Replaced it and no problems since then. No reason ever found.
