In 05-06 we checked every bike at PDI and about 75% were off. Harley decided to stop paying us for aligning them because no body else was billing for it so we couldnt possibly be finding that many that were out!
If I change a mount it gets aligned, but hey I just do this for a living!
hog-doc, what was the method you used to check alighnment?
I changed a couple of front motor mounts on my old 00EGC, a few months after I changed second one I noticed a vibration in turns, it was the alignment. Don't laugh, I used string from the back tire to the front, made the adjustments on the mount links and that fixed it, the alignment was off. The book has very good instrucrions on how to do it. I gave the string a shot and it worked.
Lonewolf exactly what tools are you refering to and where'd you get them? My bike tracks true with hands off but I'd still like to check. I have used the manuel method with the wire in the hole on the swing arm if that's what you mean.
George's Garage. http://www.georges-garage.com/chassis_tools.htm. Wire in the hole aligns the wheel in the swingarm and then the tools set your swingarm, tranny and engine at 90 degrees to the swingarm pivot and plumb to the frame. Only works for the FL models.

Thanks Lonewolf that's a cool site, I saved it but only alignment tools for FLs.

Back then we were using the 2 straight edge method described in the manual. Now I use the Kent Moore version of the Georges Garage tool.
On your Dyna there is a proceedure in the service manual when replacing the mounts, leave the bolts loose fire the bike and idle it for so long to center them then torque.

Holy cow- as someone mentioned the tools are almost $400. Looks like if I get it done it'll be a trip to the dealer...
