Default Alignment when replacing front motor mount

Tried the search function, but got no info on this...

I was told that when replacing the front motor mount you have to do an alignment afterwards. Is an alignment really required? If so does anyone have experience doing it & can you give me an idea of what's involved?
Replacing my stock mount on my '07 EGC with a Glide Pro urethane one in a few days, and while Glide Pro's website has a video on alignment, I wasn't able to view or download it.

Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

I may be wrong on this but I would think as long as you don't change the length of your upper or lower stabilizer links you might be ok, that being said, if it was mine I would have it aligned at the dealer or somewhere that has the fixtures to do it. The fixtures are pretty expensive for as much as you would use them(400.00). It can also be done with a long straight edge.

Did you watch the video on the installation of the Glide Pro motor mount? I did and he didn't mention anything about alingment after the installation of the motor mount. I would say you wouldn't need to.

Thanks for the info, guys. I haven't had a chance to watch the Glide Pro video (computer wouldn't display it) but I will. I checked the HD service manual and it says do an alignment "Whenever major disassembly or engine replacement occurs." I don't think replacing a motor mount qualifies as major disassembly, so I'll change it & see how it rides.

Chassis alignment is always a good thing. I bought the tools and not seen a bike that was good. Some were better than others, but to me it's the most important thing in eliminating "bagger wobble".

To in stall the new front motor mount, loosen the plate that connects the mm to the front of the engine. Then, tighten the plate to the engine and then the mm to the plate.

In 05-06 we checked every bike at PDI and about 75% were off. Harley decided to stop paying us for aligning them because no body else was billing for it so we couldnt possibly be finding that many that were out!

If I change a mount it gets aligned, but hey I just do this for a living!

My bike has always drifted slightly to the left if I let go of the bars. Never a big deal because I never ride with no hands. Does bug me a bit though.

I wonder if chassis misalignment is the cause. What do you think?

I'm not capable of doing the alignment so taking it to a shop is my only recourse.

Lonewolf exactly what tools are you refering to and where'd you get them? My bike tracks true with hands off but I'd still like to check. I have used the manuel method with the wire in the hole on the swing arm if that's what you mean.
