I have been looking at the HD rain suits because I like the stirrups and the Heat shields in the inside of the legs. But I see a few different ones. Does anyone have any input on the different models?
Hi-Viz and the overpass are the heavier ones, better sturdier but takes more room , the packable and the canal are still good suit, lighter and takes less room...I have the Overpass and it works good.
I looked at all the Models at my Dealer. I chose the Hi Viz. Has the stirrups, heat shields, plus I figure it would help to be seen better as well. Very comfortable and durable. Been over two years and not a problem.
I bought the Gore-Tex for a trip to Alaska in 2001, my suit has been used, abused and worn many, many miles in some miserable downpours over the last nine years. It still looks pretty good, showing some wear, but with the Gore-Tex suit, my waterproof Wolverine boots, gore-tex gloves and my ball cap, the only thing that ever gets wet is my face and beard, I can eliminate that also with my leather bandana if need be. So, what am I saying? If you buy the Gore-Tex you'll never look back. A few of the lesser dollar ones are pretty robust also, but the Gore-Tex also breathes, a real nice feature on those hot, muggy, rainy days. Gore-Tex if you're serious about riding in the rain and staying dry.
Hi-Viz. As said - you want to be seen in the dark rain storm. It breathes well, fits well, comes in a compression sack for packing (about a 6"x12" roll). Oh, and for the extra $75.00 it says Harley-Davidson on it!
There is at least one rainsuit thread a week so if you do a search you'll be in rainsuit heaven.
That being said, I have the HD Gore-Tex rainsuit and love it. I'm a huge fan of Gore-Tex.
+1 on Gore-Tex!! Is a little spendy. It breathes...you don't get quiet as wet on the inside.
It would be ok with me if H-D would slap a little reflective orange on the back and sleeves of the jacket.
I like the gater/booties also.
