I have a 2009 SG. I got it last June. I put 1800 miles on it by mid August and didn't check mileage too much. I left in mid August for a 17 day road trip to everywhere...6000 plus miles later I returned to NY. I started out averaging around 44mpg and ended up getting 47 or so by the time the trip was all done...that's for the whole trip. The bike is box stock...I haven't done anything to it yet. That will change very soon....looking for pipes and air cleaner right now...any suggestions? I like the looks of the V&H Big Radius but think it would kill low end torque. By the way, I can get near 50 mpg on rides around NY with my buddies if I ride sensibly.
I get 29-32 mpg with my setup...true duals, monster ovals, stage 1 ac and SE255 cams with a canned PC-V map. Once I get it dynoed hopefully my mpg will improve.
2007 Ultra with a PCIII USB (who knows what map, got it like this), Rinehart slips and an SE dry A/C. Shifting around 2800-3K gives me 35-37 mpg either one or 2-up, doesn't seem to really matter. I am seriously considering chucking the whole setup and going back to stock to increase the mileage, but I love the sound of the Rineharts.

You need a good map. I have an 07 Ultra also with slip ons and a/c and PC111usb. I easily get 40 avg. and 45 on highway.
You'll be disappointed going back to stock.
I got around 45 when my bike was stock. Now with Stage1 K&N AF Jackpot mufflers and XIED's, I'm getting 41 back roads not using 6th gear. I try to maintain 2500 to 3000 RPM's in all gears. Riding two up!!
My 09 Ultra is a Stage II big bore with 255's, a Fatcat and 30K miles. I'm usually between 38-41, and it doesn't matter whether I'm in town or on the road. Premium gas always, even if its only 91 at times.
