Key Fob Alarm Range?
I can set the alarm or unlock my Jeep from 100 feet away.
On my bike, even with new batteries, the fob has to be within a couple inches of the seat to work. Even then it usually takes two+ tries and moving it around to set or release the security system.
Is this normal? How much range should the H-D security system fob have?

antenna?
15'? 6-8'?
Mine is more like 6-8" (on a good day).
Sounds like my system is missing an antenna or something. Is anyone familiar with the system? Should there be an antenna wire somewhere? Where would I look to check?

Normal should be about 6 feet, the antenna is under the seat on the left side frame crossmember, it attaches to the TSSM on the right side. There are tests to comfirm the antenna is good in the EDM.
BTW hands free FOB's are only supposed to work at arms length. If you were able to be standing 100 feet away anybody could hop on ot and take off before you could get to it.!

I'll tell you a funny story.I have an 09 EGS.I was on a ride and with my bike running at a stop sign, I swapped bikes with a friend of mine who has a real nice Fatboy.When I got home(both of us rode to my house) it occured to me that I had the fob in my pocket.We never rode right next to each other but were fairly close maybe 50 -75 feet of each other.I wondered why my bike didn't quit running when the fob got away from the bike a little ways.Then I figured it must be a safety feature that once running the fob doesn't affect the engine control module until the next start up.Any one have a idea on that one?
The dealer told me to keep it in my pocket. If left in your coat and you set you coat down the bike will start and you may drive a hundred miles before you realize you forgot you coat and fob. It won't start again. However, there is the back up code which I promptly programmed and learned to use. Not too keen on the missing fob scenario.
