Key Fob Sync

How do you sync a new key fob to a 2009 ? Lost spare bought a replacement . Dealer said to start bike with original fob holding new one next to bike and it would automatically sync. Well it didn't work, any ideas besides taking it to the dealer for $70/Hr.

I believe the FOB has to be assigned to the bike by the dealer.

I believe the dealer has to "assign" the fob to the bike. HogDoc, where you at?
