Windshield Height??
I took the stock 10" off as the wind hit me right in the face like nothing was there. The 12" put the top of the shield in my line of site. The 15" works best for me, it lets me look through the top of the shield and directs the air just over the top of my head. I am 6,3"
i'm 6'-4" and i'm using the 10" longride shield with the flip at the top. the windstream occurs about an inch above the top of my helmet, and i'm still able to look over the top of the shield by almost two inches. for me, this is the perfect combination. the flip of the longride shield does raise the airstream and seems much smoother with less buffeting than the stock harley type of shield without the flip. the 9" would likely be just right for you if you go with the type of shield with a flip up at the upper edge. i've got the medium gray tint, and it's light enough to where i can duck down behind it in the rain also.
Took my stock 4'' off and replaced it with a 8'' from Fast Aire, ($40) its alot better for the majority of my riding now, the wind hits the top of my head instead of my forehead. (I'm 5'9) however I could see doin a 15''-16'' for out of state rides..
If you read others and the directions you are suppose to look over windshield
I say its BS wait until a vehcile throws a rock very hard and you face you will widh you were look through it, when it rains you can use rainx or sit up straight and look over
Dont buy something that you thinks its cool and looks good
And dont tell me the rock will follow the contour of the the wind

Welcome to the windshield club... Now then you can take everyone's opinion including mine or you can go to ebay and buy 2-3 cheap fastaire shilelds for like $30 -35 a piece and then decide what will be the right heighth for you, as most of us have had to do the same thing, or.....
You can buy 2-3 of the expensive ones that you think that you would like to keep and of those the ones that do not meet your criteria you can sell on this site for about 1/2 of what you paid for them initially. Either way, you'll find out what works for you and what doesn't...

I refuse to look through a windscreen. One thing that needs to be considered when determining windscreen height is sitting posture ! I know for me, when I get to going, I tend to settle in and assume more of a "crouched" Jessie James type of position, and can ride many miles that way. So what you saying man, well your riding position that you settle into will make a difference of a couple of inches in windscreen height, if you still want to look over it ! So think about your riding posture before spending the big $'s only to find it not right once you get into your "serious riding mode" ! Craig
The seat you ride on is going to make a big difference in your windshield height. I can't imagine you're still riding on that stock seat... if you are you're a better man than me. The low profile seats will set you down and back an inch or two like mine. I am 6'2" and my 6 1/2" recurve is perfect. I can just see over the shield when kickin back like Hayhoss and if I need more field of vision I just sit up a little straighter.
What works for me and my buds with the stock w/s is to get a straight line from the tip of your nose to where it hits the w/s,mark lightly.Remove windshield, slice a few inches off the bottom, stick back in,line it up,mark the holes with a punch, take out drill holes and install.Everyone we have done has been great.I don't like looking through plexi glass especially in the rain or fog.
