I am 6'0 on a '09 Street Glide.I have the HD 6.5 contoured winshield and the wind hits me on the forehead.I would recommend a 9-10 " windshield to clear you.Klockworks makes a nice one.
I agree. I'm 6'5" with a 10.5" clearview recurve. Could probably get away with a 9" now that I've got a C&C seat that moves me down a little, and back 2". I had massive buffeting before changing shields.
i would ask the guys u ride with,i have lent my 3 shields out alot to guys who dont no what they want...thats why i have 3,u dont know till u try it,i would start with a tall one and save it for cold weather riding season if its too high
I was used to an extra tall windscreen on my 06 RG, since I am 6'2" and have a tall torso. I tried a dealer bike with a 6" screen and it was too much wind at 65mph for me. My 9.5" is a harley standard wind screen, smoked was a nice touch and I have wind now just over the top of my helmet. Perfect for my tastes... I think that I paid less than $150 for it and I installed it myself in 15 minutes.
Anything is better then the short one that comes on the SG. I am 6'2" and run a 6" Windvest. While I still get a little wind in my face Im not getting blasted.
If you read others and the directions you are suppose to look over windshield
I say its BS wait until a vehcile throws a rock very hard and you face you will widh you were look through it, when it rains you can use rainx or sit up straight and look over
Dont buy something that you thinks its cool and looks good
And dont tell me the rock will follow the contour of the the wind
1st. everything that I've read says NEVER USE RAINX ON YOUR WINDSHIELD it can cause it to get a fog like look that you cant repair.
2nd no one thinks that a rock will follow a wind path. A WINDshield is to help block the wind (many ride without one) not to block rocks. Although it is great when it does, or you could duck.
anyway I have a 8" smoked that I got from ebay for about $30, I'm 6' and it works great. Trips, rain Whatever, wouldn't trade it.
I agree though, looking over is much better then looking though a windshield.
