Default Need Clarification

Two things I cannot seem to get anwers for. Here is the place to ask as I have been reading posts and you guys know everything there is to know about this stuff.

Is the 2008 FLHTP Main wiring harness the same as the civilian models. I know the interconnect is differend but I need to know if the Main one is the same.

Second, what is the part numbers for the accessory switches in the console by the ignition switche on the newer touring bikes.

Also, where can a guy get a fuse box cover for a 2008 Electraglide.

Here is why I ask all of this. I have a 2008 FLHTP that I am going to change the interconnect harness for radio and guages and all. The fuse box cover I have has all the police things on it. I am sure if I put the new interconnect harness in I am going to be adding fuses for the new accessories. If anyone can help please let me know..

Thanks in advance and safe riding out there...

Sorry don't have the direct answer to your ques, but, if you were to get all the factory manuals (service, electrical, parts, and the police supplement) you'ld probably be able to find what you need. I know it's not much but I hope it helps.

PM Dawg for the part nos. Or, stop by an HD store and compare the part nos. from the 2008 Touring parts catalog to the police supplement parts catalog.

I did the same on my '04 FLHTPI and the convenience of adding cruise control, handlebar controls of the radio, gauges, etc. was fantastic compared to the wiring I did previously "adapting" the police interconnect harness for those functions.

If you need left handlebar switches, housings and harness let me know.

Good luck with your project.

I do need the left switches. I would like to find the complete deal from an ultra for the left and right so that way when i start adding stuff here and there it is all there. Let me know what you want for the LH side with the housing if you have one loaded with all the bells and whistles and I will paypal you some money.

Thanks

I'll shoot you a PM, but you would do well to simply wait to buy the HD cruise control kit (it will come with new right side switches, housings, and harness) and, if you add CB and/or intercom, you can buy the appropriate kit for that as well which will include new left side switches.

HD doesn't sell the Ultra switch sets separately; you need to get them in a kit or assemble your own which isn't difficult since the cruise (right side) and PTT/squelch (left side) switches are sold separately and you'd need only the lower housings to assemble them.

Doing my FLHTP conversion with an 08 interconnect harness. Mine is an 08 FYI. Everything was plug and play except the LH controls I ordered with the communications kit will not fit the interconnect wiring harness plug. Do I cut and splice according to WD with a new connector? I would love to find the correct LH Ultra controls that would fit but I am in need of a part number. Anyway, thought you were the man to answer this one.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Mark,
I'm in the same boat as you. 2008 FLHTP with the cruise control kit and civilian interconnect harness. Mine is currently apart as we speak while I figure out what to do with the left hand controls. I don't want to ruin connector on the new interconnect harness, so I will likely just try and find a matching connector and pin it with the wiring from the current controls.

Looks like I will also need to get the ACC switch kit as well so I will have the connector to pin with the Cruise switch that came in the Cruise Control Kit.

Let me know what you wind up doing for those two problems.

I will likely be heading to dealer to snoop around the catalogs and figure out what all I need as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks,
John
