The Police models do not have the wiring for the Civilian Interconnect. You will need to change the Main Harness. The main harness will depend on the model and its accessories. There are Four different Main harness. With or without ABS and with or without Fairing. The Interconnect Harness (70232-08) is used on FLHT, FLHTC, FLHTCU, and FLHX (Fairing models). It is not used with the Police models FLHTP, and FLHRP so it would not be just a Plug-N-Play.
1. Never assume or take as gospel what you read on the net. Stop by an HD dealer and ask to see the parts books for the '09 Touring models and the police supplement. If the p/n's for the main harness is the same for civilian and police models you are food to go. If not, your next step is to compare the wiring harnesses to locate the differences and see if you want to make changes to your main harness to mate with the civilian interconnect harness.
2. If you do use a civilian harness, you will need to modify the wiring of you handlebar switches; better is to replace them with civilian versions.
I know this is an old post. I'm changing my 2009 Police Glide over to cilvilan now. I have bough the new interconnect harness 70232-08. Problem I'm having is with the ABS hookup from the bike is different from the harness. Any thoughts?
