Has anyone purchased extended saddlebags from tjd customs
I'm looking at buying a set of extended saddlebags from tjd customs and was wondering about the quality of the bags. The price is hard to beat,I was wondering if anyone else had any problems with this company or there products. I hate to purchase something before I fully research it. If anyone has anything from tjd customs please post pics.
They take alot of work to get fitted. The rear fender cover hits the bags on both sides where the latch hooks. Then took 6 weeks to rec them???? your choice man. but after all the work we put into reshaping them they look awsome. My thought is you get what you pay for.
They do take some work to get them smooth. Some times they are slow to ship. Hard to beat the price, but if you are paying someone else to prep and mount you might be ahead to try another bag. I did my own work, so I got no complaints.
I ordered a set of bag lids from TJD with the molded in places for 6.5" speakers to mount. They are gonna take a lot of work to make them seal correctly (doesn't have a molded lip for a factory style seal to mount). And the tabs that slide in the brackets on the inside are gonna have to be ground or filed to fit.
But i got 'em off their ebay page for $135 shipped, so i expected they wouldn't be bolt-on ready.
I just finished up getting a set of Top Shop bags and fender cover done. My painter said that they were the nicest he'd seen with nice prep and when I told him what I paid he was amazed. He's done Bad DAD and Milwalkie Baggers among others. The fender cover is another matter, I think it's way over priced and there are better looking ones to be had for the money.
It was frustrating because it was very hard to get in touch with anyone. It took over 3 weeks for me to receive my bags and lids. The price was the best I saw and I think I would have been more accepting of the shipping time if their customer service was better. I would really say just try at your own risk. Good luck
