how about armrests instead? i would think they would make a passanger feel even more secure, thats my hope anyways.

Dam armrests are about $300+ for Kury versions, wife liked them until she saw the price in the box (and that was a rally special).
My better half usually just grabs my built in "handles" but man I sure can't get used to those finger nail dents in my sides

Yes, consider the Kuryakyn Arm Rests. Its more money but it'll be more comfortable and you will keep her happy which is what you want anyway.

Check out a couple of local dealers, some of them have take-offs from customers bikes just sitting on a shelf. I got mine that way for 20 bucks.

It may not be cheaper. But I just drop my off at the spa when its time to ride the twisties. She's really happy and I'm happy.

Have them on our '05 bagger. S/O cusses them every time she mounts up. Says she hits her leg on the right one.
Haven't taken it off...yet though!
