[Harley !!! A subsiduary of Ronco!!!!!![/quote]

Geez, and to think I kind of liked the pocket fisherman, the smokeless ashtray, and who could ever forget the "hair in a can"

My point is.... We spend enuff money on a bike to buy a car ! Then it is not good enuff! Have to dump money into it to make it reliable! Ego thing I guess!! Just seems everybody that buys a Harley has to spend alota Money to make it right! I guess my question is, Why spend 20K out the door on a motorcycle, if it is'nt what YOU want! And I'm as guilty of this as anyone! Jusy never had to spend the $ on a metric to get it right!!

I've owned seeral metrics along with a ton of Harleys....spent money on all of them so I don't see your point. If you're saying that HD needs to build the perfect motorcycle, well yeah that would be nice, but ain't happening...
If anyone buys a Harley and then is surprised when it's not as fast as a 'busa or smooth as a Wing, or yadda yadda....shame on them.
There's way too much information on the net not to be well informed.....this is only one forum ( agreed the best) and more out there....

sorry for tha rant

ps: I love my hog....

On my last bike and every friend I have that has a metric has had to make plenty of changes to make their bike right for them. I think one of the big differences in money is that plastic chrome and plastic parts are cheaper. The amount of plastic parts including parts for the engine casing was a big shock to me on my last bike.

I like spending money on my SG. It makes it more mine and less mass produced. Different strokes, dude. If you don't want to spend money on your HD, then don't. See how easy that was?

I don't get the point of your "rant". If you waited all your life to own/ride a Harley and now aren't satisfied, why be miserable. Get rid of the HD and get somethng that puts a big grin on your face every time you see it and start it. Maybe metrics are more your thing after all. Harleys aren't for everyone, just like metics aren't for everyone. Life is too short.

RKC2010: the line in your sig pic is absolutely PERFECT! Words of wisdom to live by.

Not because they have to but, because they want to. Like most things in life, nothing is perfect but, it will be when I am done with it.

At least until I change my mind about what perfect is, then I will change again.

I was on two Road Star forums for 7 years and remember almost exactly the same thing when it came to mods to the bike. Changed that bikes jetting, PC, pipes (2X), front/rear suspension, clutch, stator, starter, seat, bags, windshield and I am sure more.

Some because we were convinced the factory part was inferior, most because we were making it "better" or ours. Only difference I see is there were about 25% of the people on the busiest R/S forum as compared to here.

So here we have a lot more ideas, choices and B/S.........but same overall IMO. (except HD bashing, very little and a lot of guys owned both a metric and HD.......still surprises me 3 years later how many anti-other brand people we have)
