Default adding dresser duals....tune?

I have a 2000 RKC (stage 1) with V&H Basic slip-ons with stock headers - I am looking for a little more volume so I am considering adding dresser duals. Will I need to have the bike tuned for this exaust? My main concern is that I have heard that because of the EFI type on this year bike, the bike is difficult to tune.....any suggestions on tuning for this set-up?

Also, I want to put the pipes on myself - I haven't done alot of wrenching but is it easy enough to do?

It's not hard. Install a PCIII USB, have the bike put on the dyno and a custom map loaded. Piece of cake. Just not the cheapest piece of cake.

Do you have a tuner on your bike like a PowerCommander? I'd recommend getting it retuned when you get the Dresser Duals as I did when I got mine.

If you follow the directions and have some patients its shouldn't be that hard, if you don't have the right tools it might be better to get them put on. The tools that pop into my mind are 1/4" drive extension and u-joint are handly for the exhause flange bolts, dead blow for removing factory exhaust, make sure you have the right tools to remove the right floorboard too as it's a tight fit to get the bolts out.

I have the VH dresser duals on my 01 (same EFI) with Wild Pig slipons...I'm very happy with the combo. Did the install myself with no problems. I installed a PC III usb at the same time and had my bike dynoed. There are people that have problems with the MM EFI but I guess I am one of the lucky ones, after having an experienced tech set my my hot/cold idles I have had not one problem with it....Good luck!

PCIII - OK thanks - will look into it and will have to factor that into the cost.

Thanks. I don't have a lot of tools - will have to factor that into the cost or borrow - I bought the bike used this winter and don't know if I have a PC installed - will have to have someone check - would be cheaper if already installed so I'm hoping.

I have an 08 ultra classic with V&H basic slip-ons, screamin eagle AC and V&H dual dresser headers. I use a V&H Fuel Pak, punch in the map for the config and everything is tuned. It's doggy off the line (compared to my cuz's carbed ultra) but if you want a better map, get it dyno'd.

I've read a lot of good reviews about those wild pigs - I will try the V&H that I already have but keep the pigs in mind if and when I want to try others. Hope I am as lucky as you with the tuning.
