Default 07 EGS Security Install

Ok, went to the stealer and bought the security unit w/FOB. Don't have the siren II in stock so that's on order.

I found the TSM unit under the seat so that's straight forward. Unplug harness on the TSM and plug into TSSM, so far so good. Then take the antenna and plug that into the TSSM but, and here is one of the questions, what does the antenna fasten to? The body looks as if it has a type of connector on the side that slips onto something to keep it in place but haven't found where.

The last question is activation. I see in the service manual, table 3-1, has a procedure for entering the PIN. Is there another procedure to activate the system or is that something the dealer has to do?

Appreciate any direction.

Antenna placement and is dealer needed to activate system or is the PIN procedure all that's needed?

OK have both TSSM and antenna installed. I even went through the process of setting my PIN no problem.

However, I turn scoot off and walk away...no security warnings (signal flash) or red security key turned on. Walk back to the scoot try to start, will run for a second and shut off. I then try to use my PIN to override. I leave the scoot on its stand, I don't sit on it or move it in any way. Procedure says to have RUN/OFF switch to OFF, then turn to IGNITION, then press and hold both turn signal switches until dashes appear on odometer. THAT NEVER HAPPENS!!!

What happens is both turn signals flash, the red security key stays lit for a few seconds then goes off. Odometer continues to show mileage...no dashes.

Can anyone shed some light on this? If not I guess I'm going to have to remove the TSSM and put the TSM back in. HHEEELLLPPPP!!!!

Answering my own questions here.

In doing some digging I came across a procedure (Password Learning) that looks like it will need to be executed.

This procedure (about 30 minutes in length) recouples the ECM with the newly installed TSSM.

Going to give this a shot and see if I'm successful in getting the scoot up and running.

Pretty sure you need to take it to the dealer and have them "assign" the fobs to your security module. Hopefully they won't charge you after you bought the parts from them. Let us know if that's the fix....

Went through the 30 minute Password Learn procedure. I then went and reassigned the PIN. Scoot now starts but red security key never comes on when I leave. Another thing to figure out.

Where did you find the password learn procedure. Is that in the manual ? Can you send me a copy or post it somehow...

Thanks

Even though it doesn't say in the install instructions you do need to take the scoot to the dealer to have them pair the FOB to the ECM. Took it down and was out in 20 minutes and no charge!!! Working but now need to get the siren II on order and get the pager.

The Password Learn procedure follows. It will take a little over 30 minutes to get through.

1 Set Run switch to Run

2 Turn Ignition key On-Off-On-Off-On-Off-On and then toggle
the Left Turn Signal switch twice.

3 Turn Ignition key Off-On Verify the Check Engine lamp and Security Lamp illuminate
briefly and then turn off Security lamp will not illuminate on non-security
(TSM) Twin Cam models.

4 Attempt normal start one time. Engine starts and stalls immediately. check engine
lamp stays on. Password has not been learned and sets trouble code P1009, thus stopping fuel
flow.

5 Wait 10 seconds Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models. ECM enters Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not cycle the ignition or disrupt power.

6 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed.

7 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models.

8 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed. Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not cycle the
ignition or disrupt power.

9 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp remains lit for V-Rod and TC88 with TSSM. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models.

10 Wait until Security Lamp turns off or a minimum of 10 minutes has passed. Password Learning mode for 10 minutes. Do Not cycle the ignition or disrupt power.

11 Quickly (within 2 seconds) turn Ignition key OFF-ON Security Lamp light and then turn off. Lamp will not be on for TC88 TSM models.

12 Turn Ignition switch OFF. Wait 15 seconds. Turn Ignition switch ON and start engine to confirm the Password Learn Procedure is successful. Engine will start and remain running. If engine immediately stalls and fails to restart the Password Learning mode was not successful. Start over at step 1.

The above steps must be timed and performed exactly as described. Any deviation will require you to start again from step 1.

Forgot to mention that I put my scoot on the trickle charger while going through the Password Learn procedure. Read where the voltage needs to remain above a certain level for this to work.
