Where did you read that I said that I "ONLY" use the mirrors? I always try to check my blind spots, by a head turn, but many times you don't have that luxury as it takes longer to do as opposed to a glance, but if you cannot see your mirrors perfectly due to your arm(s) being in the way, then there is a potential problem..
I know guys that are HUGE and can see out of the stock SG mirrors. I don't get it. Also, FWIW I can see out of the stock fairing-mounted mirrors with my 14" Wild 1's just fine. Those mirrors do have a wide range of adjustment, you know....
I just used the stock HD mirrors from another model for now. I may change at a later date but I agree with you. I don't feel I can see as much as I need to see with the fairing mirrors so the handlebar mounted ones work well.
Leaving for a 2 week trip the last of June. I also get about 1/2 of the mirror the other 1/2 are my arms. Going with the handle bar mount mirrors now rather be safe then look cool.
Installed the wicked image mirrors. These are nice, love the blind spot mirror. Metal not plastic. They do vibrate more than the stock mirrors, my only gripe with them. Also they are not concave like stock and the " objects are closer than they appear " does not apply. Will take some getting used to. Overall they are a great add on but overpriced. What isn't for these bikes!
i have an 08 sg and bought a pair of stock harley black mirrors, the same type you'll find on the ultra but in black instead of chrome. i installed one of them lightly, and i didn't see much change from the stock sg mirrors. i guess the next step would be to get the longer mirrors which cost about the same as the standard ultra mirrors.

I wish you had not brought these mirrors to my attention. I have the HD Blind Spot fairing mirrors now and I am not too impressed with where they positioned the "spot". On the Wicked Image product it seems to me that the blind spot mirror is in the perfect location. As to the increased vibration, your photo seems to show the end of the mirrors sticking out well beyond the edge of the fairing. Is it possible that the vibration is wind induced? I can't recall if the OEM fairing mirrors protrude outboard that much. In any event, your new mirrors look great on the bike. When you have gotten used to them how about updating your thoughts about them. Thanks.

I was able to get another putt in this evening and test these out some more. First of all yes they stick out beyond the fairing an inch or two. The inside mirror is basically the same size as stock and the portion with the blind spot mirror is what protrudes. I love the way they look! The blind spot is definitely in the right location. Still getting used to the inner mirror though, when you have a car on your *** it looks like they are 5 feet from your rear but in reality they are a good 15 feet. As for the vibration, I think it's the mounting system that wicked image uses. I noticed that when you are at anywhere from 1000 to 2000 rpm they shake pretty good but at 2500 rpm or more they are pretty smooth. Maybe the stock ones shook too but not as noticeable because of the convex design? Anyway I do recommend these. Hope that helps jlelliot, and anyone looking to upgrade mirrors on thier SG.
