I have not got them yet but looking at the bike, 2006 Streetglide, does anyone know of any clearance issues? Right now there is not any room between the passeger or rider boards/pegs. I want to install them myself along with a pcIII but before I start I would like to know of any known issues. Is this insall something a novice can do? Thanks in advance.
Mike
You can do it if you have a small amount of mechanical ability, and you will feel good about it once done. I installed them on my 2004 RKC and it took maybe 1.5 hours. I had to loosen the right driver floor board and the left passenger floor board for the pipes to fit in place. (no need to take them all the way off). I had one clearance issue and that was my brake pedal touches the heat shield, still havent ordered a more forward brake pedal The left exhaust pipe just clears the primary cover by 1/32" I mean it is tight!! Make sure you pick up 2 new gaskets, and the stock gaskets are fine. I was talked out of getting the screaming eagle gaskets because they supposedly dont crush as well as the stock. (people having problems with them)
With that said I love those pipes, and Ive gotten many compliments. I live in Southern Maryland and havent seen anyone who has the same pipes so they are somewhat unique in my area. I'de like to ride up behind someone with them some day so I can really hear them and compare them to the every day Rinehart duels. The RH Duels are popular for a reason of course, not knocking them, I almost bought them.
Reversed the washer on the bottom rear board mount (clearance), eliminated the tranny/starter brackets & installed a Kuryakyn Xtended pedal (clearance/comfort). 16000 kms...awesome pipes! Get 4 new manifold nuts for a smooth install, simpler than taking off the stock pipes. Wait till you hear that solid, deep, aggression![>:]
I installed them myself. I used the included spacer to move my right rider floorboard out about 1/2 inch and I have had no clearance issues with the stock brake pedal. Since then, I've had people coveting my pipes at every ride, rally or function I've attended. I like that.
