I recently finished a 103 build on my 08 RG. Turned out pretty good considering this was my first twin cam build. After about 1000 break-in miles I had it tuned by my local dealer with the SERT. It turned out good with just at 100 hp and 110 torque.
The dyno operated said my bike ran good but I should consider installing a SE compensator. He could not justify why, just saying that I need it because of the power levals of my motor.
The bike runs great, what will this compensator do for me? The stock one seems just fine. Am I missing something here?
Any and all input greatly appreciated,
Thanks for your time,
Doug
Not sure what you understand about the compensator but if you check out my pictures (Primary chain alignment tensioner alternator rotor magnets) you will see it and the cover with belleville spring washers that keep it compressed. It allows some give in drive train but cannot ever really spin completely around. By making the springs thicker and stronger it will be a little slower to go to fully compressed to take up shock better if you have greatly increased HP and torque and drive it hard and dump the clutch at high rpm's from a dead stop.

Reason: spelling of belleville
Compensator? What compensator? I don't run no stinkin' compensator. Took mine out and put an EVO 30T in it's place to change the crappy 6th speed gearing in my 08
Good point! I had forgot about that. I've ridden a loaner 09 and the lower gearing really wakes the bike up! I think if it was me I'd do that. It seems that most of the guys who did it did not take a hit on their mileage but in fact improved it.

Dawg just curious, how much motor (hp/tq) are you running? The stock crank will only handle so much and the SE comp helps with the tq off the crank. At least that's why I put on a SE comp. And yes, the stock gearing on the 08' SUCKS!
