Default help with HD touring pullback bar install

I'll be installing the HD touring pullback handlebars, part #56176-08 on my 08 FLHX this weekend. any tips to make the install go easier. I've had the outer faring, ignition and small plastic piece under the ignition off before.
tips such as removing the clutch cable from handle bars, rerouting the clutch cable and anything that you ran into on this handle bar install I'm not thinking of. from all I've read you can use the stock clutch cable.
I'll also be installing Avon grips so the old worn out ones are a goner, there air cushioned anodized fly by wire.

yes I know how to use the search function, so if that's your only help, just move along.

Make sure you protect the brake light switch in the front brake lever by putting a 4mm thick spacer in between the lever and the perch.

flhx08, I did this in march to my 07 ultra. Onpage 593 of the parts and acces. book it gives you the list of what you need. You need clutch, brake, and a sensor kit if wired intern. Loosen the inner fairing or you will never get the bar clamps loose. I am still having clutch cable moving and binding problems even using 2 inch over 38922-09 diamondback cable.

thanks for the suggestions, although wasn't sure about the brake light perch thing. not sure what you meant. installed the bars, they look and feel great now just to get out ride today and try them out. the clutch cable needs to be longer as it a bit tight and I'll be buying a longer clutch cable, maybe a barnet stealth series +4.
I guess my next thread will be, after reading the manual of course, tips or tricks on changing clutch cable.

Well after a good ride yesterday, 300 miles, I can say the bars work for me. I didn't have the pain in my neck and shoulders like the stock bars after a long day of riding.
I ordered a new clutch cable to replace the stock one which is too short. I temporarily rerouted it outside of the fairing until the ups guy brings the new one.
OEM part number is 38649-08. cost $23 before shipping from Zanottis. It's just the black one like stock but will be long enough to get the job done right.

Thanks for advise!

The H-D dealer installed the pull-back bars on my wife's 2007 Untra. They replaced the brake line and the clutch cable in addition to the bars but not the throttle cables. I have heard of from people who bent the brake line to make it long enough, but I preferred not to do that. Since the clutch cable goes through the Ultra fairing normally, a longer clutch cable is needed. Replacing the clutch cable will require that the cable be disconnected at the lower end also.

I would bet they'll charge around $600-700 and may not want you to walk in with your own parts.

you have to take off the fairing outer cover, radio(use a hex ball end tool), you have to remove the exhaust to get to the trans cover where the clutch cable goes in(need snap ring tools), I didn't loosen the inner fairing but you might want to as it's in the way of the handlebar clamp hex bolts, might as well change grips if you need some while doing the job, exhaust gaskets, trans gasket, trans o ring, zip ties.

In my book it was quite a job but the results are so great I'm glad I did it.

any help needed just shoot me a PM and I'll reply as I don't come here everyday but will get an email letting em know you contacted me.
