Dave - its not a big job if you have basic tools and the service manual. I removed mine and reinstalled it after having it painted. Take care and time, follow the manual - perhaps 2 hours at the most to reinstall. No aspect of this job is highly technical.
I have had a painted inner installed twice now. Cant remember how much it was. I have the outter fairing off now and the guages out. Not far from having it all off. After looking at it I would do it myself next time. Like they say, get the manual
No matter who installs it, I would think most importantly besides scratching it is to make sure all the wiring is routed and secured correctly so theres no pinching or stretching the harness or movement when the front end is turned. So I would take plenty of close up pics before you tear it down, so you can refer to it during reassembly (that is if you decide to do it).
I just got my new inner fairing, and am wondering
what is a fair price for the dealer to installe it
Thanks guys
Shortleg[Dave]
I hope that you have a sense of humor and don't mind profanity cause it will be obscene.. Probably 7-8 hours labor @ I'm guessing $80 bux an hour..is about what most dealers charge these days, but hey if you got the bux, WTF?
Call your dealer and ask for the hours and labor rate to install. Don't believe them if they say that they don't know. Every dealership has done dozens of painted inner fairing installs in the last year or so. I'm guessing 3 hours while you wait, and 8 to do it yourself as noted above. You choose.
