I recommend contacting us on monday and I can help diagnose further into this issue. Without seeying the bike firsthand it is difficult to speculate as to the problem, there are several possibilities ranging from an installation, connection or wiring issue, the possibility that the unit was plugged in with the ignition switch on causing a corruption, or even a pre existing condition with a component, wire or sensor that was brought forth when the PC was introduced into the system (just using these as examples, again it is difficult to speculate without seeying the bike) In the extremely rare case there is an issue with the unit we will certainly take care of it. If you remove the unit from the bike it will return to stock, the PC has no effect on the ECM, sensors or otherwise as it is downstream from these components. I am not completely clear on what you have tried so far however the first step you need to do is install the Power Commander software on your computer and contact us, we will check some settings and have you reinstall the firmware as well as some other tests. Give us a call and we are here to help.
thanks for the reply.... i did the install as per directions..switch off...i even cranked bike and let warm up before install...as soon as it cranked in 10 to 20 seconds idle went down white smoke started coming out of left tail pipe and it died smelled like it was flooded really bad....cut off switchs, cut zip ties unplugged PC and hooked it back stock....would not crank motor just turned over strong gas smell, gas dripping out left pipe.. put bike up tried again Friday am still no crank strong gas smell gas dripping out left pipe... called Keith he said to check/replace plugs and everything should be ok.. did that still would not crank.. pulled plugs checked for fire has fire... held throttle 1/2 way finally cranked gas was coming out of left exhaust(a lot) bike will not idle runs very rough...put bike up went back out Saturday am used 1/2 throttle to crank ,gas was coming out of exhaust so much it was running down the wall of the building behind it (no exageration) fumes so bad i could'nt stand it...ran it for about one minute and no idle it cut off... pulled the plugs, again rear cylinder plug wet from gas, bike sitting on kick stand and puddle of gas on floor dripping out of left pipe....rechecked all conection and fuses for the 3rd or 4th time all ok no bent pins on the connectors, unhooked battery to see if that would reset the computer still no help, checked oil and yep gas in oil, had between a 1/4 and 1/2 tank and now fuel light is on...i think that gas is pouring in to rear cylinder from the injector i dont know what else it could be.. and dont know what else to do but take it in on Tuesday and pay out of my *** to get it fixed, just hope there is no motor damage..as said before bike ran perfect before not even a hickup, fired up as soon as you hit the switch... i dont know how another program will fix it since it wont even run..
Go back and read what I said.... "if the PC caused the problem" and I still stand by that. If it was caused by something other than the PC, then of course they wouldn't be liable. On the other hand, if it was a defective PC, and if it did cause a problem with the posters bike, then they should fix it.
Well, I simply disagree with you. It's nothing personal, but just my opinion. If I buy a TV from Wal-Mart, I install it myself, and it takes out my home-theater setup I won't be going back to Wal-Mart asking them to replace everything. OTOH I might approach the TV maker in a rational discussion about the issue. That's just my opinion and I appreciate hearing yours too.
Are you serious? It's far more likely to be unburned gas than condensation. From what he's said, he's got an injector stuck wide open, dumping fuel into one cylinder. That fuel isn't combusting, it has to go somewhere.
It's hard to diagnose a problem from a remote location, but all of us are here to help the OP find his problem. You say it is a far greater possibility that the problem is unburned gas, and it doesn't hurt to bring up other possibilities even if they may seem improbable. In several years of perusing this forum and others there have been numerous problems like this that had surprisingly simple solutions. Also, in 30 years of owning EFI cars and MCs I've personally have never had an injector stick on any of them, nor have I ever heard of one sticking on a Harley EFI system, but I don't doubt that it happens. Condensation is a byproduct of combustion and is commonly seen dripping from an exhaust when an engine is cold. In that spirit I was throwing out another possibility, nothing more.
and i just want to say thanks for everyones input on this problem...its just really frustrating to me to have this problem with a simple plug and play, something has really caused a serious issue with my bike, i wish it was something simple that i could fix myself but its not looking that way..........
Maybe I missed something so don't crucify me here but if an injector is fired by electrical pulses how can it stick open unless there is continual voltage going to it? I've been in the automotive and heavy truck engine world for 20 years and have not experienced this, can voltage be measured at the injectors with a DVM and see if there is voltage at the injectors? Just asking to satisfy my curiosity and see where this leads.
took bike in yesterday..no word yet, talked to Jamie he said the guys at dynojet said it sounds like possibly a short somewhere, bent pin or worn area on wire harness? FM customer service is great, at least they are going to take the PC back and give me credit....will update when i find out more info
