Went to dealer ship with info. Service manager was in shocked to find this time I had m1185 info. Was told no problem changing injectors with 25 deg. Was told they should have looked at least he was honest. Thanks for help T.C
the dealers do not like the consumer being more educated with the help of the internet, its makes it lot harder for them to blow the B.S. up our a**. I have found the dealers in my area to be very uneducated about the product they are selling. its great to have hd forums like this to keep the consumer from being the money guniea pig for the dealers.
I was at the dealer almost 2 weeks ago having cruise control installed. When I dropped the bike off, I mentioned in passing to the service guy that I was experiencing surging so bad that it almost caused me to dump the bike once when it cut off. When he called back to let me know they were through with the install, he told me the fixed the surging....with new 25 degree injectors! [sm=happybounce.gif]
If your bike was manufactured before Feb. 13th, 2006, it was built using the 8 degree injector..part number on injector 27625-06. If your bike was built after that date, you should have the 25 degree injectors already...part number 27709-06 or 06a. The problems with the 8 degree injectors were that customers were experiencing surges, coughs, and general lean conditions. This could be a dangerous situation in traffic. Check to see when your bike was manufactured...should be a tag on your downtubes or frame neck.
On the left side of the bike, look past the horn between the jugs and you should see the fuel injectors. They are stamped with a part number, which is really irrelevant. Look for "25 deg" stamped on either one. If you don't see that, you have the 8 degree injectors, which you can have changed per the bulletin.
Hey guys....educate me too! The M-1185 Service Bulletin only applies to the 2006 1450 Big Twin's, right? It's my understanding that bikes made prior to 2006 do not suffer from the injector related surge issue. Just wondering.....
Thanks for the education. My '06 Ultra was made in June '06 according to the frame neck. Will look between the jugs tomorrow when it's daylight and I can see better.
I found I needed a dark garage and a flashlight to read my injector numbers...
My dealer changed out my injectors and upgraded the flash this morning and my bike still had the occasional cough through the intake when I rode it this afternoon. I guess it is back to the dealer to sort things out.
Does anyone know what # flashes up for the new 25 degree stage 1 flash when you walk through the diagnostics? I just want to make sure they downloaded the right one.
