Default cam mount plate

OK I have no oil pressure. Took off the oil filter and the gauge sending unit. Itook out the spark plugs and spun the motor, no oil. The relief valve is in the mounting plate right? Can I take that off without taking out the cams. My shop book wont be in till monday. Thanks someone.

The relief valve is in the plate, bottom left if you are looking at it. You can remove it without pulling the plate. There is a little roll pin that holds it in that you have to pop out. Did this loss of oil pressure just occur or did you do some work? How are your cam shoe tensioners?

Well apon ferther inspection I guess I had better change the tentioners. I found several threads and I will do it all. Now the big question how much should I do. It has 58000 miles. New cams? Big bore? Thanks O and no I hadent don any work to it. I started it and the oil light stayed on longr then usual and only had % lbs oil preassure at 1oo rpms ( mid range rpms ) I rode it home 10 miles. It has no taps or knocks. Runs fine just no oil praessure.

I would at minimum put in the SE hydraulic upgrade kit that comes with the new style tensioners and new higher flow oil pump. With that I would change out the lifters. If you have the cash and want to go more, you could freshen up the top end with a big bore and get a complimentary cam. Don't know if you're carbed or EFI, but you would either need a tuner or rejet.
