Default Handlebar Swap

Hey boys and girls...I'm swappin out my stock RKC bars for heritage bars tomorrow.
Heard it's no big deal with the internal wiring, if you take your time.
I'm thinkin, I can just slide off each side of my hand controls and slide em back on the new bars. (clutch side grip moves with housing).Seems to me
if I baby the controls back on, I won't even have to adjust the throttle.
Am I right or wrong?

How would you be able to do that if you are internally wiring the bars? Everything would have to come apart.

Would'nt I just take the wires out of the plugs in the headlamp, snake em thru the new bars and set the plugs up again?

I know this doesn't address your questions but I am certain the heritage style aren't drilled to accept internal wiring. Unless they changes something recently

I went to Reach Bars and had to use the extender harness from HD. But, yeah you should be able to slip your controls off after taking apart the switch boxes.

Default Good luck

I like to wrench but I won't touch the tbw. I just had the heritage bars put on my 09 RK No wire nor cable or hose issues. All OEM stuff will fit but it took a progfessional techie 2 hrs.

If your going to do this your self, get a service manual. I installed Heritage style bars 56902-08 on my 08 RK last spring and didn't have any problems. The TBW was not an issue, and it took me (a backyard mechanic) about 3 hours using a service manual.

Don't forget to put a shim on your brake switch.

A real easy fun mod that will take some time. It took me 3-4 hours as I was in no rush. Shim your brake lever as it says in the manual
