All I know is that at my last fill, the thing took 6.2 gallons. Phew, that was close. I still think they're a pain in the *** to fill easily.
These 6 gallon tanks are a real PITA to fill compared to the old 5 gallon tanks! Can't hardly top them off without making a mess unless you get a pump that you can finesse the handle.
I think this might explain why some can get 6+ gallons in their tank. They are taking the extra time to really top of the tank. It's a slow process but I can routinely get 6-8 tenths more gas in the tank after the nozzle pops off. Many times I put 5.2+ in the 5 gallon tank of my '05 RKC.
correct kstang71.. ya didnt say i lied.. but i was goin from phoenix to tucson and as the light came on, the cruise disengaged.. i tried re engaging but it wouldnt.. maybe its a problem for harley..now i will look into it
i don't know why you'd think i would lie..... all seriousness, when the yellow fuel light comes on... the cruise will disable and wont engage while light is on... fill up, light off, cruise will engage
Hi Suey,
You didn't specify who said they thought you were lying. When I replied to your post, I was just surprised by it. This is the first time I've ever heard of a cruise control disengaging just because the low fuel light came on. I've never seen that happen before in any cruise equipped vehicle I've ever owned, two wheeled or four. My 09 Ultra has never done that and it's had plenty of opportunities to do so in the 19k+ miles I've put on it.
If I gave you the impression that I thought you were making this up, I apologize. It wasn't my intention.

Based on what others have mentioned, when you take it in to have HD check it out they can't say "They all do that"--probably the first time in HD history!
BTW my cruise also works when the low light is on.
you guys are right.. my road king never mattered if the low fuel light came on.. . but its weird... and no one said i lied.. i just felt like i was called one.. no problem guys... i do have a good one for them at the harley place i guess.. thanks guys

Not bad for a 6 gallon tank! I just received my secondhand 2009 RG tank and look forward to finding out for myself just how much it takes. I hope to get even more in with my carb bike, by leaving out the EFI pump and other stuff that fits inside. Must be worth another pint at least!
I reset my trip counter at every fillup. I'm not saying that I don't trust the gauge, I just feel more comfortable knowing how many miles that I've gone between fillups.
