Default A Revolation!!!

I have been cussing the mirrors on our '05 FLHTC since I bought it!
I'm a little on the rotund side and could never see around my sholders.
Well, yesterday I changed the mirrors for a set of 'long stems' from a Sportster...WOW!!!! Now I can almost see the tail light!! What a difference! They look a little hokey, but with the change in the rear view, I will live with the 'looks'.

Screw how it looks as long as you can see now.

I did damn close to exactly the same thing yesterday! Since riding my Ultra for a few months, I've come to hate the shape of the stock mirrors. They taper exactly where you wouldn't want them to! I miss the visability factor of my ugly rectangular old '91 Softail mirrors - so I clipped a pair for around 20 bucks on eBay and will throw them on when they arrive.

Harley's mirror extenders worked for me on both the 08 Ultra and the 09 Sporty Custom.
Inexpensive fix.

I tried the 'extenders'...got 'em up but not out far enough.
I got those 'long stems' for $10.
I wish there was something that was about 2" longer than stock.
But until they come along, those Sporty 'long stems' are my choice now!

The first time I did that was with my '86 Classic. All I could ever see with the shortys was my elbows I've put the long stem mirrors on all of my Ultras before they ever left the dealership since then.

You sure they are mounted right? I was going to change my mirrors untill someone pointed out mine were mounted wrong. The ball on the mirror(where the stem goes into the back of the mirror) should be lined up with the ball on the lever. When I did that, I could see around my shoulders. Now, I ain't that big of a dude, but I ain't seen my toes for a few years. Hope this helps someone.
