I don't think the people who plan roads have a clue as to the hazard manhole covers present. There's a manhole cover in the middle of a corner near my house. I felt the rear of my bike slide across it a few times when the ground was wet. I have to remind myself about the manhole every time I round the corner.

I was wondering the same thing, thnx for clearing that up for us. lol....
ALWAYS watch for road hazards, be it leaves, wet leaves are like greased snot, sand, gravel, oil, diesel, coolant fluid, tar, painted road markings, MANHOLE covers, water...frozen or otherwise, car parts, alegators (also known as tire treads from 18 wheelers) step ladders, road kill, big rocks, fallen branches, trees and whatever else..... I have encountered everything listed here as most of you that ride have also.
AND never assume that the wet spot ahead is just plain ole water.
Metal, painted lines, snot lines, oil and gravel patches and even salt (deer etc.) are used on roads by "highway departments" who deal with motorcycle accidents all the time.
Sort of makes you wonder doesn't it?
