Default Reacurring Codes

I have a 08 Ultra and my check engine light stays on. At times I dont have much as far as throttle response and other times it fine. The active codes are:
P1510 EFI Limited Performance Mode
P2138 TGS Correlation Error (Twist grip sensor)
P2127 TGS2 Low/Open
Any ideas. Could it be a bad electronic throttle

You may be losing the ECM. Had an issue like that, changed the TPS and did not help now going to the dealer for an ECM. Bike off warranty by 2 weeks whenit failed.

Good Luck

Did you have any handlebar or hand controls worked on since you've had the scoot? It could be the TGS or the green clip connection between the TGS and the jumper harness.

I had the 1510 and 2138 DTCs thrown alot when I changed my grips on my 09. I had to go back, loosen things back up, adjust the wires from the clamp to ensure nothing pinched. I cleared out the codes and have not been on since. No exp with the 2127, sorry.

I did put 16 inch hanger on it. And wires are now in the bars.

Ok I just got the call from the shop and the codes all point to a short in the wiring/twist grip sensor in the handlebars. I know one of the codes was 1510 but I forget the others (two of them started with 2xxx).

Now the bad news. Since I did the bars myself that voids the warranty on the wiring in the bars. I knew this going in so it's my fault so I can't be too hard on HD. BUT... I hear the twist grip sensors can go bad throw the same codes. If thats the case they should be responsible for some part of it, but I doubt it will work that way for me.

They quoted 2-4 (probably 3) hours ($99/hr) to get into the bars and fix it, and $20 in parts (connectors/wire) with 1-year warranty on the work. So I'm taking roughly a $320 lesson in doing things myself. Not the first time and probably not the last!

Dilema: I'm having trouble deciding if I want to continue my warranty when it expires, because I will void anything I work on. But I am definitely not capable of handling any major jobs (motor/trans/etc...) that come down the road myself, hence having a warranty. I'm basically a glorified parts changer with more than basic bike knowledge.

I will post more as soon as I pick it up.

Ok I got my bike back yesterday and it seems to be running great and all error codes gone. So far . So it went pretty much as expected when I went to pick it up. The three codes all pointed to handlebar wiring and/or twist grip sensor (HD part# 32310-08 for 2009 FLTR). The labor went as quoted 3-hrs at $99/hr and the sensor kit was $76.46 (MVP discounted). Again I knew this going in and expected to pay it. When they were getting my bike I asked the service writer if it was my wiring job or the twist grip or both. I also told him about the twist grip sensors that people on this site have reported that have gone bad. I said that I realize that doing the work myself voided the warranty of that area, but if the grip actually failed and it wasn't my wiring could they meet me 1/2 way.

So the service writer ran out back talked with the tech and found that it was only the sensor NOT my wiring. But the sensors can fail just by removing it and did I mess it up or did it fail. They totally took my word and knocked off 2 hours of labor and only charged me 1hr. Total lesson cost $175.46 and the work and parts are guaranteed for a year.

So the dealership (Seacoast HD in NH) did me fair, the forum educated me enough to get some money knocked off, and everyong walked away with a good attitude.

I just replaced my bars yesterday and now have an engine light and the same three codes P1510, P2127 and P2138. I going to rip back into her as soon as I finish my coffee. The diagnostics also came up with a 32933-10 part number...anyone know if that is the TGS module?
