Coming home from Sturgis, my friend started having idling problems with his Street Glide. We stopped at the HD place in Cheyenne, Wy. for assistance. Found out the OKC dealer installed Stage one filter, Reinhart pipes and no race tuner. Another story in itself. Anyway, we spent a total of 1-1/2 days at the dealer. While there, I was looking at an '07 Ultra, Suede Blue Pearl/Black. I planned to buy an Ultra this fall. However, they shot me an offer and I just bought the damned thing and rode it home, 1400 miles. I just love it, compared to my '05 Heritage. The new 96 ci engine has more torque and virtually no vibration over 70 mph, like the Heritage. I really like the 6 speed. Runs 300 rpm less than 5th at 65 mph. Got 49 mpg in the Colorado mountains and am now getting 42 on the road at 70 mph. Now I know I should have bought one when I got the Heritage. So much more comfortable. I'll have pics posted in a week or so. I didn't get an extended warranty like I did with the Heritage. In fact, my strategy is now to trade every two years and I will probably ride up and trade with the folks in Cheyenne. Great people and much lower prices compared to here. I feel now I can post in the Touring forum legitimately.
trade every two years and we worry about milage?? lol... I get ask every so often about milage - my answer, when I get low, I fill up - Do we really worry about milage on these machines??? I think not... If milage was really that big an issue we would buy a scooter... lol Life is too short to worry about Milage on a Harley
I lived in Denver from 1987-1996 and the dealer in Cheyenne, I guess still Maverick Harley ALWAYS sold for MSRP even during the crazy times of the early 90's when the prices really started shooting up. They would take an order for $200 bucks and if you had a problem and needed to drop out they had no problem with it. It they could have gotten the bikes they could have sold 'em all to Denver area folks. 3 people I knew bought there and always talked about how great the people were.
Lets see pics of that new bike. Now that you are in the Geezer Glide category...tell us how that 07 tranny sounded and performed would ya. In case you haven't read any of the blogs on this issue there are plenty to be found in the forums under tranny/driveline/clutch section
There are a couple of us out here who are considering the 07 ultra from older ultra's but worried about this issue...let us know
