Warranty...void?
I have placed an order with Fuelmoto (power package) for my 2010 ultra limited, and I intend to install the upgrade by myself. But then one of my friends has told me that the bike warranty will be void, if I install these parts by myself.
Is it true?
Can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks much in advanced
Nick
Just kidding there. Actually, your warranty would only be voided if it could be proven that your upgrade caused damage to the bike.

The bottom line is that the claim denial must show that the modification was the proximate cause of the failure in order to deny the claim.
If you have a fuel management system and the rear wheel bearing goes out, you are covered. If your wiring harness fries you are covered.
This still leaves on problem. A claim can be denied unjustly and it is up to you to fight to get it back.
I am a stubborn Scotch-Irish-German who will argue with a sign post. I have fought dealers in the past. Here's how one worked. I paid $219 for something that I should not have. I paid the bill, went to small claims court for that amount and filing fees, showed
up with the bill and the warranty info. Ruling was in my favor. Dealer said "So what. Just see if you can get the money" When he received a legal notice that the dealership was to be sold at auction on the court house steps by the Sheriff the next week. He paid up fast. Cost me way more than the bill and fees but it was sweet victory worth ten times that.
I'm putting a Cobra F2000R in my 2010 when I get it at J&P'S open house this summer. I have had warranty work and recalls done on my 07 FXSTC with the same programmer. Dealer didn't say peep.

I am not a lawyer, but if I am not making a mistake, the Magnuson-Moss Act has "allowed" the consumer to use un-branded parts ro replace their product, as long as these parts do not cause damage to the product, and the seller (HD) cannot prevent, or use these un-branded parts as a reason to deny a warranty claim.
I hope someone will correct, or clarify for me, if I am wrong.
Thanks again
