Default Heat Management System

Hey everybody,
I know this has been talked about in the past when it was first introduced, but I just want to be absolutely sure that this is what happened.
Here's a little history of the bike. It's an 07 FLHTC with about 26k on it. Over this past winter, I installed a S+S 106 BB kit and a SE 255 cam. It had from new Rinehart Tds, SE A/C and a SERT.I regret now using that cam, but that's another story. Anyhow, after the break in period for the cylinders and pistons, I took it to a local HD dealer to have them dyno tune it. The numbers were good, but not great! Again, another story. After they tuned it, it did seem to run a little better.
Since that time, I have put another 2k on it. Well, the other day while riding home from work, I got stuck in stop and go traffic for about 20-30 minutes. I could tell the bike was getting hot for my legs were getting quite warm. I finally got to a red light and the bike quit firing on a cylinder. I sat ther and thought what the frick is going on. I gave it a little gas and it accelerated normally. I left that light and got to another one (2 blocks away) and it did it again. Now I'm thinking, what did the dealer do to this? Did they activate the heat management system or what?
Once I got out of town and finished my ride home, I pulled it into the garage and everything was okay. Today on my way to work, no problems at all.
So, is this an indication of the fuel management system kicking in? The dealer says no.
By the way, it was very warm, air temp wise. I was at idle. RPMs idle. In first gear at light.
Thanks in advance to the all knowing on here.

Sounds like they activated your EITMS when they tuned your bike (or didn't de-activate it on the MAP). The EITMS will shut down the rear cylinder when/if your bike gets hot enough. If you take it back to them, alls they have to do is hookk it up and uncheck a box and load it.

I'm curious to know why someone wouldn't want the EITMS activated. It kicks in automatically when the temp of the front cylinder head reaches 285F. Looks like a good feature to me. I have mine turned on and it sure keeps my cojones a little cooler in stop and go traffic. <g>

I just found a service bulletin pertaining to the 2007 heat management system. I'll see if I can post it. BUt in a nutshell, the dealer didn't quite tell me everyting. The dealer told me that the bike HAS to be in neutral. That is NOT quite true by this bulletin. The bike has to be EITHER in neutral OR the clutch pulled in. Makes you woner, doesn't it?

Here's the link to the bulletin:

I hoped the link works.

This is the way it's supposed to work. I don't switch to neutral in stop and go traffic and my EITMS kicks in.
