Default Street Glide Vibration

I am trying to get used to my 2008 Street Glide I got a few months ago. This bike has a serious vibration at idle while stopped as compared to my '03 Electraglide Classic. Is this just a characteristic of the new style touring bikes? Seems like those 2 stabilizer bars (engine to frame) are the culprits.

Vickers1, I'm not sure what you mean by serious vibration but my 08 does vibrate considerably when at idle but does smooth out with a twist of the throttle. Some factors that could influence the amount of vibration you feel at idle could be idle speed, broken or worn mounts, etc... This being my first Harley (although I've had it for a few years now) the vibration at idle did catch me by suprise when I first got it.

Yea a twist of the throttle (maybe an extra 500 RPM's) smooths it out but sitting at a red light at dead idle shakes my sunglasses on my head. My '03 had more motor movement than this one but was smoother at the handlebars.

Let off the front brake while at lights and such and you will find alot less vibration....Trust me...Try it

Yep holding the brakes aggrivates the vibes more ...but other than that the bikes nowadays cant hold a candle to the pre rubber mounted models...lets keep things in perspective here.

The first time I hopped on an '07 RK in Aug. '06 I thought something was wrong with the bike it shook so much at idle. Since then my experience is that '07 and '08 TC96 engines shake more than previous TCs and Evos at idle but are smoother at cruise. The '09 and newer have an improved engine-mount system and they are much smoother at idle than previous models, again IMO.

I'll give the brake thingy a try. Can't remember if I normally hold it or not.
