Default Speaker cracking question

I installed the J&M 7.25 speaker set up on my 2001 Electra Glide a few months back. I love them, they are everything I want in a speaker.
Here's the deal, just recently I started thinking one of them (the left speaker set) was blown. I was listening to a song and I started getting distortion/crackling from the left. I changed the song and it continued for maybe another song and then went away. This has now happened maybe 3 times in the last few times I have ridden. It's not the speakers them selves as I have verified they can still crank with no issues (just did in the garage). So now I am wondering if it's a connection, short in wiring, or in the stock HK unit. Anybody dealt with this before? I have messed with the AVC. I don't have "off", I have 0-4 settings. I am assuming "0" is off.
Any help is helpful.
Thanks
Gofer
