Wow, love those 21" up front!!!! I want to do a 21" in the front and just get the rear one chromed and no lowering. I have had several nails in the rear tire and do not want to be hunting down a tire when on a trip. Does anyone have a 21" front, stock rear and not lowered on an 08 Road Glide? Just want to drill the fender holes larger and tilt it back. How is the handling on this set up without lowering? I am 6'5" with a 38" inseam and am going to move my floorboards 4" forward and 2" out (when I can find a break pedal long enough) so would like to keep the heigth so I do not scrap as much.
I rather the way the bike handles with the 21 up front. Just got back from a trip to the Smokies and had no issues throwing it into and out of corners. I did notice a great improvement after lowering the front end to get it back closer to stock height.
It is pulling 98 torque and 102 hp. I was told at the shop I would benefit greatly from a Screamin Eagle race tuner to smooth out the curve. Thanks for the compliments.
Just buy what suits you best... Everyone has there own opinion. Some people hate them some people love them... Just ride someones around the block one day.. I run a 21 front stock rear. Cant justify 1300 bucks for a rear wheel that you see This much of __. And as said above you can pick up a tire for a 16 anywhere if you get stranded. Take the saved money and stretch the bags...
p.s. as for the 360 brake comment ..i was talking to a guy that had a 21 on the front...he said he had that 360 brake and took it off after a week...said it didin't stop for sh*t...he was a rider NOT a styler
and the guy I talked to said it worked fine. I know I'm harder on the brakes than some people, so, riding habits influence opinions I guess. If he wasn't doing any "Stylin", why change the wheel?
I have a 21/18 combo on my 08 Street Glide and has not been lowered in the front, I actually think it handles better and gave up very little in ride quality.
