The 21 does handle differently but not bad. At speed, it actually crosses rough road sections and road grooves much better than a 16/17/18" front wheel.
I like to set the cruise and relax my hands quite a bit and with the 21" front wheel, the bike just wants to go straight.

My front tire is a 130 and a friend of mine has the Metz 140. I prefer the look and ride of the 130 a little better. The stock fender clears the 130 better as well.
If you want to use your stock front fender, just drill the back mounting holes out to 3/8" and rock the fender forward as you tighten it down.

I dropped my front end 1 1/2" to get it back to a stock setting position.

Did a 21/17 on my 09 SG this winter. Lowered the front end 1" to put the geometry back to where it should be. Drilled the rear holes on the stock fender. No rubbing. Handles just as well or better than stock. No parking lot issues at all. Get lots of comments about the looks. I park it beside my Fat Boy which I put on 18" wheels on and damn I am soooo glad I went with the 21 on the SG.

I'm actually buying a 21/18 setup tomorrow for the bike. I've never considered not using a 21 up front, I've had several choppers with the 21 and didn't think anything of it. But recently while at the local shop talking about some work most there were against the 21 and told me to stick with an 18. After hearing that it made me have second thoughts, but seeing this and those that currently have a 21 and rack up plenty of miles on the, I'm sure about my purchase now. And like others said...worst case scenario I sell it and replace it with the "cheaper" 18.

Now we are getting somewhere. I did not mean for this thread to be one guy bashing the next guy's taste. I wanted to hear from experience what works and don't work. Again what works for one don't work for the next, but was curious as to the "why". Now to find a sweet deal. Still could go either 18/18 or 21/18. Really like the 2010 screamin eagle rims. Anyone got suggestions for finding the best deals on hweels. Anyone got any used ones ofr a good price?

There is a local guy here that machines his own wheels from DOT blanks. I went to their shop the other day, spent quite a bit of time there touring the shop and speaking with the owner. Enough so that I feel totally comfortable buying his wheels. His website only shows two models for the bikes and lots for the cars, but he has 5 different models, chrome or black and matching rotors. MCMotorsports.com I think was the website but he's also a seller on ebay. 21/18 set in Chrome is $1400, any model. Black was I think $1200. Rotors were $150 each. I know everyone will have their opinions, but being local to him and being able to see the shop and work made me comfortable going with the little guy, and for a great price. More money for other mods!

Last year I switched to a 21/18 setup on my Roadglide and dont have any regrets. I'm about average height (6ft) and didnt feel the need to lower the bike. I have taken several road trips and can honestly say that I didnt notice a decrease in ride quality. The one negative is that Avon or Metzler seem to be the only companies around that make a 21" tire.

ok i was wrong with the remarks i made also but when people start saying things like bar hopper and they look stupid. i will get deffensive and then i read a post about hair net and 1 button shirt iam a hispanic male and i take offense to that i never have made a racial remark befor on this forum or anywhere else for that matter and if that wasnt racial i dont know what is. anyway to each is own i like the way my scoot handles and i havent had any problems yet. and it does turn alot better then a 16,18,or 19.

Bike looks good Rick. Is that a stock fender? Mine has a Fatboy front fender on. Think I could get away with using that if I went with a 21
