Damm, I knew I was missing a part of the RUB dress code, hair net...
Really, I just switched over to a 21 in front and like 100's of threads posted here have said, it takes a little getting used to at first but no big deal once rolling.
Stand by for pictures, if you think the V Rod below looks even a little cool, wait until you see the Ultra with my "make over"
I am also considering this combo, do those of you who have this combo have an ill effects on the ride quality? More specific, in suspension or seat of the pants feel?
IMO, a 21 is to big for a bagger. Looks kinda like the bike is attached to the wheel instead of vice-versa. Saw a SG at the beach with a 19 and stock front fender, best lookin set-up I've seen yet. Maybe go with the little 360 degree enclosed brake system that mounts in the hub too. "Yeah, that's the ticket"
06gliderguy- I'm in the process of swapping to a 21/18 combo. From what I have heard, people recommend to lower the front end an inch. Otherwise you will feel like your riding uphill. Because the 21 wheel and tire is about 11/4 taller than the 16. I just installed my lower springs and I plan to finish my swap this weekend. I'll get back to you with my impressions as soon as I finish putting my bike back together.
most 21s i see in Magazines look cool but in real life i think they look too big i agree with the "look" of a 19... i think it's Renegade Wheels that have a few on their bikes on their website... from what i understand the tires are not too available
p.s. as for the 360 brake comment ..i was talking to a guy that had a 21 on the front...he said he had that 360 brake and took it off after a week...said it didin't stop for sh*t...he was a rider NOT a styler
21k miles in 2 years of "bar hoppin". No handling or ride issues for me.
Thats funny!!!! This thread is nothing compared to when I wanted to put a flame kit on my bike. Get what ever wheels you think will be right for you and your riding style. Who cares what everyones opinions are. I say the 21 looks great on a bagger, get the 21 you want if you dont like it sell it, what are you going to lose a hundo or two?? Go for it but be sure to post pics.
I don't think all 21's are created equal. I can tell
you I would not run a 3 spoke 21. It will flex and
cause some low speed wobbles. Who knows the
effects over time. Great look for a PIMP-MOBILE.
Wonder why Harley don't install narrow 21's on
Touring bikes?
