Lace wheels suck on big heavy bikes, Alloy wheels, get a nail, plug and pump, on the road in 5 or 10 minutes, lace wheel, call a wrecker/trailer and wait hours for them to get there if youre lucky and lots of time waisted time and money getting it taken off and fixed, whats funny is HD charge's you more for this outdated type wheel, they would have to pay me to take them. Plus to me they are but ugly compared to the alloys, just my 2cents
Butt ugly? Not hardly. The provide the classic motorcycle look. They make a motorcycle look like it's supposed to.
i was out riding with a few friends one day... we pulled into our destination (in Maryland, on a Sunday) when i noticed my buddy's Night Train's rear tire was going flat before my eyes. he parked it and i went and bought 3 cans of fix-a-flat (generic).
believe it or not- even though we used every damn can, it worked.

It was as said,MY 2 cents, classic look yes thats true, the moped I had when I was a kid had them too If they ever update them to be tubelss then I can see someone using them, but what a motorcycle is "supposed" to look like is a personal opinion, not shared by everyone. IMO they are still butt ugly compared to the spoke alloys, in fact I ordered my 07 roadgide and will wait 2 monthsto get it rather than take the one they had on the floor with lace wheels.
for you tubless guys, check out StopNGo. They have by far the best kit to carry with you. Mushroom style plugs, special insertion tool and CO2 cart. for inflating.
Beware of the "Green Slime". It's made for slow moving vehicles, Garden tractors, Wheel barrows, Golf carts, 2 wheel dollies and that type of stuff with air tires. It's made to put in "before" you have a flat so it will seal the leak as it happens. I tried once on my car, Man what a mistake. It made that tire wobble and out balace so bad I had to remove the tire and clean all that slime out of there. No way would I want to experience that on a bike.
Hi first, I joined your forum 'cause I did look for some wheels and I got to you with Google, saw this tread and being directly implicated, heritage softail, I look for my springer; for new wheels but, tubeless ! and yes, I found those in Germany. Company is called TTS, website : http://www.wheelspoint.de/index.php?id=36
I saw those wheels At European Bike Week and was pleased by the high quality and the tubeless feature.
I intend to use those with large spokes tubeless, they use a kind of special silicone and have an experience of several years in using this system, so it's safe ^^

I couldn't agree more.
Laced wheels are a pain to clean and too easy to damage if you hit a deep pot hole or something else that an alloy wheel will shake off.
