Default Saddlebad lock problem

I went to leave work tonight and my key wouldn't go in the lock. Well I looked at it and somehow the lock is turned halfway so I can't get the key in or the bag open. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions to get it unlocked.

Well, If you have a spare key, just grind or file the tab off and use it to turn the lock to the right position.

I am really amazed that the lock can get itself in to such a state, but for fear of contradicting myself I am not surprised.

I have had a series of "weird" incidents with HD locks recently - on a 1 month old Limited but also on my 08 Ultra

I have a sneaking feeling HD have a new lock mechanism supplier and the quality just doesnt feel good to me

I have found the spring mechanisms on the fuel flap and the rider intercom cover are also flaky. Kinda sucks when it must be fractions of a penny they are saving for this

I agree with the grinding off the tab solution. If it is under warranty then i would show it to the dealer and get a new lock mechanism. Main benefit of that approach is you get a couple of keys with the new lock as well - can never have too many spare keys IMO

That was the only solution I could come to.

I'm not sure how it happened, I just know it did and made me mad as hell.
