+1 Stock tires for Me also. Got almost 18k on my last set. Could have went a few K more but picked a nail in the rear, so I changed them out.

Metzeler 880's have a front and back tire...Phat Performance has them for about 300.00 total for the set.

American Elite's are not available until later this month.

Can't speak to the newer Ultras.

I put Michelins on my 95 and was very happy with them. The rear only got 13,000 miles as compared to the "stock" which ran as high as 17,000. The grip on the Michelins was far better and the ride was great.

Haven't had to change tires on the Limited, so no opinion there.

My bad! I checked Avon's website and they do carry this size now. It was not the case 1 month ago when I last checked. This being said, it is my experience that the Cobra, like the Metzeler, will not last as long as the stock D408 or the future American Elite, if it's indeed the same compound as the Elite 3.

This raises a question and I'd appreciate opinions. I just had my D407F front tire replaced by the dealer with a D408F due to cupping. They covered 50% of the expense based on the amount of tread left and/or amount of usage I got from the tire. The rear D407 appears to have a thousand or two left in it and they didn't see any cupping issue with it nor any obligation to cover any of the replacement cost. My question is whether I should/must replace the rear with a D408 or could I run any brand compatible size tire on the rear in combination with the D408F on the front without a problem?

For what it's worth, when it's time to replace my 407 rear tire (7K now), I'll mount the new Dunlop American Elite which should hit the market in Jul or Aug. I believe it'll be a better tire than the stock tire, although I'm not unhappy with it at this point.

Personally, I'm a fan of the Avon Venoms, love the way they ride and corner.
