Finished the SE255 cam install on Thursday of last week. Headed off to Rolling Thunder Friday. I must say the results are impressive.
Highs:
1. Fuel economy is about the same as stock.
2. This thing pulls like a freight train in the mountains
3. I kid you not, on the throttle hard I hit second gear and the front wheel came up off the ground. (Didn't expect that, and was a little surprised)
4. It does help sixth gear quite a bit, but I still prefer running in fifth below 70.
Lows:
The valve train is noisier
+1 ... I'm REAL happy with my 255's too! Also, seems my exhaust (Rinehart TD's) got quite a bit louder with these cams.
Oh I forgot that part, yes the exhaust is much louder. It actually blew the packing out of my right muffler. I got crap all weekend from the guys, comments ranged from I turned my bike into a party favor to why is the tampon string hanging out of my tail pipe.
I need to call Jamie at Fuel Moto to discuss this.
I have a set of these cams also for my bike, been holding off because not sure which way to go on the tuning, do you guys think it would be ok to install them and DRIVE it to my tuner if I take it easy on her?

Yes I do. I wouldn't go riding around for days but a ride to your tuner isn't going to hurt anything.

This cam really works well in a touring bike.
Your on point except for #1.....
When I "get on this motor now".....it sucks alot of gas as compared to when it was stock. But I love it! Great Cam...

I agree!! My first couple tanks sucked! But... if you take it easy on that right wrist (I know it hard to!!) you'll be surprised what kind of MPG you can get and still have the power there when/if needed!

I got 38.5 running from Pittsburgh to Gettysburg and I wasn't gentle on it. Average speed was about 75. 37.2 running around DC in stop and go traffic. I'm roughly where I was at prior to the cam install.
